The Young Ambassadors Program (YAP) brings together young people ages 14-20 who lost either a parent or immediate family member in a terrorist attack or were injured themselves. This year’s program which takes place in New York City, April 5-12, 2016, will include participants and staff that have either lost family members or family members that survived attacks in Argentina, Colombia, England, France, Israel, Northern Ireland, Spain, and the United States. The week long program is filled with exciting and fun activities combined with meetings with political and community leaders in order to empower these young people to take their personal experiences of trauma and share them with each other in order to bring about healing.
This year’s program includes such incredible activities such as The 9/11 Tribute Center and 9/11 Memorial, The Intrepid Museum, Dave and Buster’s, Planet Hollywood and many other surprises for the participants. The young people also participate in interactive therapeutic programs run by experts in the field of trauma and terrorism to assist them in building a global peer support group — knowing that they have friends all over the world that understand what they are going through and they can share with them going forward.
