Upcoming Young Ambassadors Program (YAP) April 24-May 1, 2014
The Young Ambassadors Program (YAP) brings together young people ages 14-20 who lost either a parent or immediate family member in a terrorist attack or were injured themselves. This year’s program which takes place in New York City, April 24-May1, 2014, will include participants and staff that have either lost family members or survived attacks in Northern Ireland, Spain, England, Uganda, Kenya, Israel and the United States. The week long program is filled with exciting and fun activities combined with meetings with political and community leaders in order to empower these young people to take their personal experiences of trauma and share them with each other in order to bring about healing.
This year’s program includes such incredible activities such as as FAO Schwartz, The 9/11 Tribute Center and 9/11 Memorial, The Intrepid Museum, Dave and Buster’s, Hard Rock Café and many other surprises for the participants. The young people also participate in interactive therapeutic programs run by experts in the field of trauma and terrorism to assist them in building a global peer support group — knowing that they have friends all over the world that understand what they are going through and they can share with them going forward.
If you are interested in sponsoring a participant for this year’s program or getting involved, please contact Sarri Singer at sarri@stosglobal.org.
