Wendy Lanski...Giving Back!!

William H. Quick, affectionately called Billy, was a 23 year veteran of the FDNY, and he became a volunteer at the 9/11 Tribute Center in 2009, volunteering until he passed away from 9/11 complications.  He was a husband, father and hero.

The 9/11 Tribute Center created The Annual Billy Quick Award to honor volunteers who embrace the 9/11 Tribute Center’s mission through service on walking tours.  This year, only one volunteer was awarded with this honor, our board member and 9/11 survivor, Wendy Lanski.  Each volunteer who receives this award makes sure the legacy of Billy’s life and volunteer service is never forgotten.  Wendy gives walking tours of the World Trade Center site and educations at the Tribute Center, including teaching school groups and relating not only the historical events of 9/11, but her own personal experience on that day.

For victims of 9/11 as well as all other victims of terrorism there is always a fear that people will forget, and each time Wendy guides visitors through the Tribute Center is another opportunity for remembrance.
